Fire Mary Peters For Unlawfully Opening Border To Dangerous Trucks From Mexico

February 6, 2008

(Washington, D.C.) – The Teamsters launched a nationwide grassroots campaign to fire Transportation Secretary Mary Peters for unlawfully opening the border to unsafe trucks from Mexico.

“It’s a disgrace that Mary Peters is still in office,” said Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa. “She has broken the law and defied the will of the American people by exposing them to dangerous trucks from Mexico.”

The Senate voted 75 to 23 and the House voted 411 to 3 to keep the border closed to unsafe Mexican trucks. The legislation became law on December 26, 2007 as part of the Omnibus budget bill. Under Peter’s direction, the Department of Transportation has refused to comply with the law.

The “Fire Mary Peters – Lawbreaker” campaign includes:

A web site, www.FireMaryPeters.com, with blog, downloadable “Fire Mary Peters” windshield signs, recommended actions and an e-mail component urging concerned citizens to ask their elected representatives to find Mary Peters in contempt of Congress.

Posters and floor graphics now up in the Navy Yard Metro stop near the Department of Transportation (DOT) in Washington.

An anonymous hotline set up for whistleblowers to report additional transgressions by Mary Peters.

A leafleting campaign at the Metro stop, where DOT employees will be handed cards asking them to call the hotline to report other laws that Mary Peters has broken.

“Fire Mary Peters -- She Breaks the Law” bumper stickers mailed to thousands of Teamsters and others.

“Fire Mary Peters” radio commercials to air on WTOP, the No. 1 radio station in the Washington, DC area, and nationally on the Air America radio network.

“Fire Mary Peters” Web ads on key political sites in Washington, DC and Arizona, Peters’ home state.

The Teamsters Union will argue in court on February 12 that Peters broke federal laws aimed at ensuring American motorists aren’t endangered by allowing Mexican trucks on U.S. highways. The case will be heard in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco.

The Teamsters are supported by CONATRAM, the federation of Mexican truck drivers who categorically reject Mary Peters’ program to open the border. They fear it will devastate their industry, just as U.S. agribusiness wiped out Mexican farms after the passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement.

The “Fire Mary Peters” campaign has a special focus in Peters’ home state of Arizona, where letters and bumper stickers have been mailed to thousands of Teamsters, urging them to take action.

It’s an open secret that Mary Peters is planning to run for governor of Arizona in 2010. Arizonans need to know that Mary Peters is the lawbreaker who opened the border to Mexican trucks.

For more information about the campaign, go to www.FireMaryPeters.com.

Founded in 1903, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents 1.4 million hardworking men and women in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

EARLY MEDIEVAL SYNTHESIS...

The early medieval synthesis was composed of three elements. The first of these elements was characterized in the time period 324-632 A.D., in which religion dictated government. The second element was over religious interpretation and the creation of a new form of government that held more political power to military control. In the second phase, Charlemagne realized that his empire was ungovernable which led to a feudal society. The third phase created the foundations for modern forms of government; they just had to be refined. Charlemagne realized that even religious toleration couldn’t solve the problem of social stability; society had to be governed locally.
The initial period of the Byzantine Empire followed the various interpretations of religion into society as a whole. By Constantine establishing the Empire in the East, he was opening the empire up to conflict but felt that was the best place to keep the empire intact. When Justinian took power, he decided the best way to rule was by taking care of the population and instilling certain values. The same Christian values pacified much of the population, yet led to turmoil amongst others as peoples struggled amongst religious interpretation and true descendents from their belief system. Soon the western part of the empire would fall and religion would become the law of the land, which struggled to identify with protecting people or providing support.
Mohammed ruled by strict Islamic law, and took Mecca by force in 632 A.D. This was especially significant because for the first time in history Islamic armies were attacking Constantinople. The strict interpretation of Islamic law into society gave people less security at the expense of individual freedoms. The variance of interpretation led to various splinter groups amongst, both, Christians and Muslims. From this instance people on the world scale tend to view religious tolerance as a sort of freedom from experience. When people mix religion and government, the people become less free.
Christian and Islamic religions struggled to define whether or not images were permitted in describing religious prophets. This led to many conflicts between the East and West, the West proclaiming no use of images to the East. Charlemagne realized that the religious division of the country would ultimately lead the people to an ungovernable state. The problem he struggled with was which was more important to the control of a country, the fact that the people were fed or protected. Modern theorists could interpret these meaning into modern Republican and Democratic contexts. Republicans are usually for security and Democrats are for the general welfare.
The second time period then created a new form of government. The new form of government was one of which imperial generals seem to gain more control. They gained more control because they control, both, the money to feed the population and the power in a military to protect them. This was a quick and logical solution to feeding and protecting the population, yet leads to modern situations of conflict.
The feudal society created in the second phase was basically a society for protection. This is where the world first originated the idea of possession and real ownership as a basis for power and control. The strict interpretation of Islamic law proved to lead to famine and tyrannical leaders. More emphasis was placed on worship then to the population living well. By 1071 A.D., the Turks had overrun Asia Minor and began to drive out the Muslims as Christians and Muslims struggled for supremacy in the region.
Alexius I Comnus of the East called on Western aid in time of trouble which signaled the beginning of the first crusade. This third element is responsible for the foundation of modern governments of countries like France, Italy and England. The idea of political concentration from top down was a central theme. The previous elements described a time of struggle between food and safety; meanwhile, society was progressing towards working only a few days a week and provided safety.
The world view of the middle-ages was that of being backwards originally, yet time proved that it was a time of progress. Religion proved to be the bloodline to leadership and ultimate voices of grievances. The same grievances were often times agreed upon on local levels because people chose to live amongst those like themselves, for security and religious freedom mainly. The middle-ages birthed feudalism, which then birthed capitalism. There has always been a constant struggle for a common ground between religion and power. This is the period from which the birth of Islamic extremism came, the belief that God was the ultimate power and sometimes many have to die to preserve that power in the name of Islam.
The coronation of Charlemagne represented the synthesis in many ways because he was the first person in power that meant well, but realized before he died that his empire was out of the control of being governed. He attempted to implement new versions to existing laws and nothing seemed to pacify the population, the continued to fight over interpretations. What he also noticed was that control could be held from the bottom up with peace but not from top down. Religious leaders and later feudal lords tended to have more control over the population because they protected and fed them, which in turn kept them tied to the land.
The administration of justice was best through the lords of lands. The feudal system also gave birth to common law, but the lords had the power to judge anyone because they controlled every facet of your life. The wealthy controlled the peasants and even later they controlled the way peasants voted. This leads us to common critiques of capitalism, whoever were to control the others wage would undoubtedly control their government.
The main battle for control was a heavy reliance on mercenaries to run the military operations for money. The kings often had less power since they relied more heavily on other people’s army. The common solution was sovereign territories which developed after. Basic principles developed in the middle ages laid the foundation for what we call government or democracy now. The king ruled the kingdom, the duke ruled the dukedom, and the count ruled the country. This is later translated into many different modern regimes based upon each biblical following.
The wealth of the empire was a constant problem as is wealth in the modern era. Certain religious sects favored wealth over values. Marriage was often looked to as a way of mobility, not for love. Marriage for love was birthed after the middle ages. Feudalism was being interrupted because of money, similar to the way capitalism is talking world stage today. Wealth, religion and power continue to plague society today and it may well all stem from happiness. The church always taught severe desire is the punishment for sin. As each church struggled for supremacy, so did the people.

Fraternities....

First and foremost, whether you be male or female, the most important thing about preparing for college is to always remain focused on the books. All incoming freshman are going to be constantly harassed by Fraternities and Sororities of all sorts, especially, if you are the least bit attractive. Pick your roommates wisely, watch not to drink too much and always have protection of all sorts, mace and condoms both. College is, truly, the most important and unique experience of your life! Be yourself and think about every action you take, including, friends, groups and any activity you partake.
You're probably thinking to yourself, what does this guy know? Well, I'll put it like this, I've been to numerous colleges, both, University and Community Colleges alike. I've had sex in the UCLA dorms when I wasn't even suppose to be there! One thing about college, if there is a will, there is a way. I've been banned from more than two bars, in addition to, being kicked out of numerous ones, Jack Daniels is one hell of a drink.
adparams.getadspec('c_billboard1');

Ladies, you will be bombarded by weak pick-up lines and invited to places that you would never otherwise go. Fraternities, good ones anyway, have access to an abundance of resources through prior brothers and such. I dated a sorority girl, before she joined, needless to say, we still do whatever. Her best-friend dated the head of a fraternity, he was a good guy, but, he was also one of the most shady characters I've ever encountered. It's all about what people see on the outside, sadly, not the inside. Pay attention to your environment, and always, look at the guys ulterior motives, regardless of whether you are right or not. Stay in the books and look good while you're doing it. Pay attention to college magazines and such, they are popular for a reason.
For the guys, you have it a bit harder, never burn bridges! I love to work-out, through that I met a lot of people, never joined a fraternity either. I dislike every aspect of their existence, but, they are good for something. Do you, be yourself and watch the politics of being a college student, people don't forget who you dated and, even, what you drink and where you hang-out. It's all about what you bring to the table. I was never fraternity material because I'm ambitious, power hungry and have a bad temper, basically, I'm brutally honest! That's never a good thing, but, I do manage to get a ton of play and met a lot of interesting people.
Take my advice or don't, but at the very least, listen to it and every other piece of advice you receive, then, only then, make your own personal decision on what course of action you will take. My college experience was exciting, in addition, I got in a ton of trouble, but, people know me where ever I go, that's all I ever wanted. What do you want, think about it and go from there.

Something In Racial Profiling...

Racial profiling has been, as well as continues to be, a monumental problem that has been side-stepped by politicians since the founding of the United States. Cultural stereotypes and inequalities continues to be a way to suppress a class of people for the benefit of another. This is evident with Mexican-Americans today. As a modern-day Martin Luther King put it, there must be a return to ethics in the public circles of influence, replacing, racial reasoning with moral reasoning.
The failure of white elites, the prominent ruling class, to acknowledge the abuse of the minority classes is, by far, the largest problem (West, 4). Overwhelming evidence is apparent in the disparities of income and wealth in the country, without, signs of slowing, in actuality, the disparities in wealth are growing.
adparams.getadspec('c_billboard1');

By bring issues of racial profiling into the public square, the problem will be brought to the forefront. We don't need more affirmative action laws, these laws tend to hurt more than help. What we do need is to change the, us versus them, mentality and return to a more ethical approach lacking in racial profiling. In fact, Congress recently passed an ethics bill, so, the lack of ethics in politics is already apparent.
The United States prides itself on democracy and a free-market, the same two elements that suppress other classes, for the simple fact, to maintain wealth and power of the elites. Attitudes and values must change, economics and politics continue racial profiling, without, properly addressing the issue, many times, not even considering it a problem (West, 12). The countries leaders must, first, realize that racial profiling does extsist.
The us versus them mentality is often used at the overall expense of women. Women of all classes and races, are neglected at the expense of furthering the advancement of men in the battle of racial profiling. This is evident in the earnings of women versus men in similar, often exact, fields (West, 27). A coalition must be formed on the political field to address these issues together.
The only way to change racial profiling is to form a coalition, based upon, moral reasoning and values. Race is class in America, with unequal distribution of welath and property, the only resourse that minorities have is in the political spectrum. When people realize that the power base lies with them, only then, will things change, in addition, the will only change gradually. Nothing in this country moves quickly, just look at the war in Iraq.

Boston Tea Party, I think...

The Boston Tea Party, was an event in American, as well as English, history caused by a series of events much greater than just taxation without representation. The underlying cause of The Boston Tea Party, was in fact, a battle of two economic perspectives. The conflict in question was, basically, what we now call Capitalism versus Imperialism.
During the early settlements of the United States, then, known as colonies, the Massachusetts Bay Colony, which Boston resided, was populated by wealthy, influential merchants. The merchants, like our own top one percent, controlled most of the wealth in colonies. So much so, that John Winthrop, the Governor of the colony, moved the political center to Boston in the early 1600's (Hughes, 20).
By 1640, Boston inhabitants were two-thousand of the twelve-thousand colonists in the colony. Mainly of the merchant class, these colonists had direct ties to England, for, both, political and economic reasons. The merchants chose Boston because of the shallow ports and deep sea's, making trade much easier and efficient then other areas of the eastern coast. Keep in mind, the English looked at the colonists as purely an investment, as long as, they remained profitable, as well as, loyal.
adparams.getadspec('c_billboard1');

England made it mandatory for Boston to hold fairs. By the 1640's, these fairs were prominent centers of trade and very profitable, I might add (Hughes, 39). Unlike Capitalism as we know it today, the colonist markets were tightly controlled by English rule and regulation. Colonists in Boston, other colonies didn't mind so much, wanted a free-market. English policy regulated prices most favorable to the English and their business counter-parts, not, the colonists themselves.
By 1773, the East Indian Company had all rights pertaining to the sale of tea to colonists. This ultimately meant, the colonists marketability of tea was virtually becoming extinct, which, was exactly what England wanted (Hughes, 72).
Of course the colonists resisted, the traded amongst other, willing, nations, ignored English policies, and even boycotted English products. These actions led to harsher policies and further taxation, including, general search and seizures. These English policies were meant to prevent Boston colonists from participating in disobedience, remember now, the colonies were English colonies.
What we now know as the, Boston Massacre, followed soon after. This was an event triggered by colonists, allegedly, throwing stones at English troops, who in turn, fired shots in a crowd. English troops were sent in to restore colony loyalty, but, the colonist felt this to be very disrespectful, in addition, to reports of troops abusive of English privileges, like, the right to be quartered in any residence of any colonist.
By this time, the English crown reserved the right to create all colony legislation. This included, English appointed commissioners, whom sole purpose was to collect taxes on behalf of England. Needless to say, this didn't go over well in Boston. In addition, judges were responsible only to the English crown, colonists were tried in English courts instead of courts in the colonies, not to mention, England had a standing Army in Boston.
These events led to The Boston Tea Party, in which, colonists dumped an entire shipment of East Indian Company tea into the Boston Harbor. The tea was to be sold to the colonists. From the colonists perspective, they shouldn't have to pay more for something that they could otherwise pay much less for. Many events followed, thus, leading to the fight for independence.

The MACBETH of true love...

Winter was approaching; at least the weather was changing, however, in California you can never really tell. I had my Ezekiel turned back, my curls flowing from the sides around. The off colored sweatshirt probably didn’t help matters any, not with the plaid shorts and flip flops anyway. The events that followed, forever, changed my life in many respects.
I ran into Justin, which I grew accustom to and I often wondered why he was never in class. College campuses are full of Justin’s, except this bleach-blonde surfer dude had something I wanted and I just didn’t realize it yet. Then again, maybe I did realize it but couldn’t, at that moment, devise a plan of action.
We chose to converse inside Davies Hall, why talk outside when it’s bitter cold out, my class being upstairs. Remember, us California boys don’t have the luxury of snow-storms which keep us secluded from the population. Justin was quickly boring me, as he usually does, when I noticed a girl about twenty-five yards away from entering Davies Hall via the parking lot.
From this distance, she appeared to have an apple-fritter on her head with classes, yet, the colors were so vibrant. “Well dressed, even from over here,” I thought, at least she has style. I couldn’t help but think she was one of those preppy rich kids, you know, the ones with all that fashion sense but their parents beat them with an ugly stick. As the distance between us closed, it became obvious she had bounce in her step. I’ve never been drawn to such arrogance, for she was gorgeous. Jesus Christ, what a pretty face.
“Justin,” she yelled, my heart sank into my stomach, she was taken. I watched them converse, never to be introduced. It was if she bathed in an ocean of rose-pedals, the scent grew stronger as people passed. The doughnut on her head was of her own, with a pin-like device keeping it firmly spun into its own; almost the same manner in which you could manipulate a mop. With such different shades of brown, how could ones hair become so full of color coordination? Every facet of her being flowed together, the light use of lipstick, eye-shadow, surely I must be in love.
Love turned to lust and the moment was over, she had left to class. I couldn’t help but wonder who that was, not to mention why she knew Justin. I asked who she was and after a brief story, oh so brief, I was informed that she was too good for me. Yeah, pretty much like that, “Who Jacque, she’s way too good for you bro, she’s a virgin.” A virgin that looks like that, yeah, she’s pretty much too good for me.
Many months passed, I was at a party. Such a boring party, why in the world am I here? I could be anywhere, prefer to be anywhere else but here. Why won’t my friends just forget this place so I can go home and sleep, never been so bored? People are leaving, hurray; we are finally making our way to the drive-way. At last, my worst fear, we have stopped.
Sports nonsense, these people don’t know anything. Two girls approach, one looks so familiar, while the other resembles a whore. From what I hear she gets that way when she drinks too much, promiscuous alcoholic, all the makings of disaster. The drunkard wants the conversation to continue, why? Surely we are all bored with it, make you point and go on will you. The climax had ended, the story fading quickly into the night, but the princess stays.
So beautiful, why does she stay to talk with us? I’ve noticed through the night that she could hand-pick whomever she pleases. “I saw you at a party; you were sitting all alone the wall. It was cute, you looked so innocent,” she was talking to me. We talked through the bitter cold, the night can’t end now. She lived around the corner, yet I’ve never seen her. So close, but so far away, she couldn’t possibly be that into me, but I have her number. Never even asked for it, she gave it to me.
So exciting, my luck is changing, finally! I remember when I turned the car on, “suga, suga,” what a perfect song, this will be her song. The whole way home I thought of how lucky I was, a girl like that wants someone like me. Surely Justin was wrong about this girl, for she told me so, so much intelligence. Somewhere along the way I had lost my mind, I never called her.
She must want something, why me though? I’ve vowed never to take another virginity; her purity isn’t going to be on my conscience, never again. Persistent is she, every chance she gets, the pushy and kicking. This girl is too good, she’s a professional ball-player, but I refuse to give an inch. I must not be that into her.
My friends think I’m crazy, good thing they’re my pupils and I their Socrates. “Invite her to the party,” Ryan says sarcastically. Ryan and Jacque together? Never, not on my watch anyway, an otherwise stroke of genius. I must call her.
We talked for hours, or at least until the phone went dead, a period of ecstasy. I learned all about her, her favorite color, hot spots and friends. Small world, I’ve slept with numerous of her friends; she definitely can’t be that into me after hearing about them. So young, what an idiot, the jack rabbit got the best of me in the end. But she said she’s coming, what a break-through.
My plan was about to be set into action, if she fell for Ryan then she was as good as his. Ryan was clueless; I think he forgot who solidified his arrogance. As she entered the house I ignored her, not only did she make me nervous, I was talking to Elsie. My virgin-mentor was surely more important for the moment; she is my best-friend, not to mention still a virgin. Jacque didn’t appreciate the neglect, Ryan attempted to comfort her.
I even gave the two love-birds the front seat; certainly she wouldn’t look right in the back. Two, it gave me a better view, she completely made me nervous. Nerves only take you so far, following behavioral patterns will make you a nervous-wreck, and experience overcomes all obstacles. Besides, not for one moment did I think Ryan had a shot in hell, no way! I’ve groomed his confidence; my half-time adjustments would overcome any deficit. Did this party have to be so far away, the location suits the players. “Oh, you finally won a game, that’s good, where is the keg?” Stereotypes become applicable here.
Don’t drink too much, always my first rule of thumb. Don’t pretend either, they’re like a serpent sweeping the floor at a masked Halloween party. Nobody seems to step on him, yet, he always manages to bite somebody. As for myself, I tip back a cold one and observe Ryan’s self-destruction. This girl is good, my only thought. For the time being, I’ll prove my Madden superiority, these people suck, bad. The cover-two stops the deep-threat by doubling the receiver, now I’ll run on you. I’ve never understood how one has the experience of playing and all but forgets that the concept remains the same. Jacque’s in my lap by now.
I folded, she claimed the entire pot. We laughed and joked, the players not getting any better. I never explained to her my odd behavior, truth be told, the behavior wasn’t odd at all. The party was ending and we never even touched lips, how would I go about such a thing, she’s everything I’m not.
Ryan wasn’t very thrilled, “Dude, I thought you didn’t like her?” Oh my dear friend, I wouldn’t tell you if I did. History has shown me his treasure chest of lies and deceit, surely I’m to blame. Back to the princess we go, why does this night have to end?
We walked to the car, holding hands even. I had to do something, more wanted to do something, failure always my biggest fear. “Jacque,” I said and she stopped. Say something stupid, just don’t look at her, what are you doing? I went for it, ante up, all in? Euphoria ran through my entire body, lips so sweet, must be cherries. We had our first kiss under the starlight and bitter cold, she buried her wet nose in my sweatshirt, then apologized. “She could have it,” I thought to myself. What good is my sweatshirt if she’s cold? I often wonder if she knew my heart was hers months before.
She came home with me, too tipsy to drive around the corner. We played until the early morning, no sex, it would have ruined everything. In addition, she met more than that, moreover, she’s everything. Cupid struck, our passions couldn’t last a year. Yeah, another one but not as so, more the one that got away. We may have been falling fast, but I can’t help but think the sorority and nightlife shredded us to mere fragments of our own imagination.
Her loss being the only thing I’ve ever regretted, so much so, I mastered her emotions and feelings of all sorts. We have come to realize that we can’t be near one another. Three years passed now, awkward conversations keep us both wondering. Her only reply, “The heart has its reasons, which reason knows not of.”
No remorse or harsh feelings, hopefully one day she finds the love given to me. Imagining only what could have been, had we said to ourselves, “I guess he just isn’t that in to me.”

Grandfather Bourcy

October 28, 2007

This weekend we’ve lost one of the greatest men to have ever lived, an epitome of the American dream. He didn’t have the luxury of a higher-education, no monuments or buildings erected in his name, for he was humble and self-sufficient. A soldier in World War II, he wed shortly after and exemplified the life of a farmer. After briefly working for a large farm, he saved enough to get a loan for a farm of his own. The farm remains in the family to this day. A man of traditional family values, Jeffersonian in nature, he instilled a hard work ethic and morals in all his children. A devote man, for his children were educated in Catholic schools, although, he was a strong believer one could live a righteous life in absence of a priest. The moral and ethical teachings of the biblical text were better lived by on a daily basis by action rather than irregularities of Sunday mass. Father of eight and husband of one for more than sixty-years, he instilled traditional family values by implementation and enforcement. Nothing obscene or vulgar in content or language was permissible under his roof, in addition, every meal constituted the entire family proper in appearance. His teachings were of the Socratic kind, usually stating, “You think you know, but, do you really know anything?” There was never any use for complaining unless you were going to act upon complaints. Although very humble, he understood everything around him. He wasn’t active in political propaganda, I’m not even sure if my grandfather was a member of a political party. What I do know is that he was well aware of all around him; I was often baffled about all he did know. Nothing passed my grandfather without him knowing it. He knew the happenings in the local community and understood the international scene as well, all the while basically living his entire life within a radius of a couple miles. I remember coming home from school on September 11, 2001 and he educated me about the whom, why, when and where before the newspapers did. He laid the foundation for my passion in politics on all levels. Every morning you knew where to find him, he would either be in the garage, on the farm, or maybe on the front porch watching the grazing habits of the local deer population. Whether deer, blue jay, kitten or coyote, he always knew when someone was missing and who the new comers were. All were entitled to life on his property. When I would speak of my dreams and aspirations he would say, “Yeah, I believe you can do it. I think you can do anything, but will you?” His wisdom always left me scratching my head, wondering what he meant and what he knew. When I would approach him with something new to me he would say, “I believe it, or, “that doesn’t surprise me.” He couldn’t be shaken or stirred; Donald Bourcy was a man of virtue and character.

Life, It's Many Teachers

Life has many teachers, for you can really understand anything only if taught. Today, those teachers come in the form of, mostly, parents. A Catholic mother may instill valuable life lessons through her biblical interpretation. Certain values remain prevalent over all societies, religion, and, or nationalism. A classical education provides you with similar values, yet they tend to be broken down to the main components of the idea; something Plato and Aristotle went over and are rarely discussed again, maybe by Seneca.
A young boy hears his mother crying in a room. Upon entering the room he sees his mother kneeling before a bed praying to Jesus of Nazareth. The boy asks if there is a problem and the mother replies to get an education and that you are her only hope. Two things remain true to this day, Jesus of Nazareth was on to something and I can only continue to find out what that is through education. Sometimes we have to investigate the cause of anything to ensure a rational conclusion. Even the above matter needs closer interpretation but certain themes remain the same.
You leave a boy knowing that his first teacher, only real influence that has remained true, believed that a higher influence could directly intervene in and out of his life. You leave this kid firm in his experience that there is something to Catholicism. After further development you then realize that Catholicism came from something, some philosopher came up with this idea that the first step to knowledge is admitting that you know nothing. Problem being, this boy came into this thought when he was becoming a man. That idea can be further expounded upon by Plato, then Aristotle, who then becomes the teacher of Alexander the Great, who has given great reference to religious texts. It’s been commonly accepted that religious texts often refer to historical situations.
It just so happens that Seneca argues in favor of Christianity on his death bed, Seneca was a Stoic. Stoics weren’t suppose to be bothered by feelings, he wasn’t Christian, yet, upon his death in a tub of water his sprinkles water onto his attendant slaves and claimed it was his liberation to Jupiter.
We learn many things from the Greeks; our country is founded in it, legal system and government. Socrates was executed at trial, in a courtroom, with access to counsel, by a jury of his peers, before a judge. These people were on to something. They had principles to live by, which, by the way, fueled Christianity not by force but logic, a better way to live to a definite infinite destiny. The only difference between the Roman Empire and the United States is that the Romans had religion and government intertwined. This became a problem, then a problem no longer when the Church separated indefinitely. The problem being, the Church influences people but never leads to any stability among governments, it only stays them. It was once said of government, that it must sway the people.
What I never understood is why the United States would separate Church and State, yet, not progress to the point of equality amongst classes and sexes. The law has its roots in Greek tradition, which was later revisited by the English. The English firmly establish common law, which forms the United States precedent today. Our precedent leaves out many women rights because the English never added them from the Greek system of logic and reason. So here is my problem, why did the United States remove common Christian laws from the legal system and couple them with the judicial structure instead of leaving women out altogether? Man’s dominance of women cannot be ignored; somehow the Christian sect has splintered into Conservative oppression to keep women down. Work with me, I can explain it, it needs further review.
These dominated women are creating confused generations, thus crippling generations. Everything seems to lead back to race, class, and sex. Women being the last behind and the first to a break-though it seems at times. She either was the mother of something positive or negative, but her life, too, was an accumulation of decisions. Socrates was often said to have went to a female prostitute for advice, she had more knowledge. Knowledge is often based upon different circumstances under common principles. Jesus came in the flesh of a man, but men shall be blessed in him. Men and women, time has proven equal mental capacity; yet, basically separated by a spare rib and an apple. That doesn’t logically follow. Jesus came with a way of life, solidifying the principles established as rules of conduct which form the basis of our legal system from the Greeks.
People often forget that Republicanism is founded in Stoic tradition, the reasoning the emotions don’t have a place in government. The same people that hold women from government, rightfully so historically, women have never been there. Time has progressed so far that I would think one would be hard pressed to say that a woman who is running for President hasn’t earned her way to the top, she must possibly know something! Why women don’t beat that mold is what I’m struggling to understand. Remove yourself from feelings in the outside world, but don’t for a moment think that people can walk over you. Be a man has lost its political or literary usage.
Capitalism leads me to Marxism for some reason, yet Marx didn’t figure out how I’m suppose to get a job and the Republican did, but, not to say that the Democrat doesn’t care. The Democrat is attempting to figure out something too complex without any support and Republicans control the economy and further suppress the population on their interpretation of the Bible. I thought we covered Jesus, but Jesus only told of the problems associated with greed but never explained that you could be the beneficiary.
The Greeks explained problems and lasted longer than we have today. The Greeks stressed education, Tocqueville says we’re creating and uneducated, rebellious beasts. Machiavelli and the Stoics could surely retain power forever if they wanted things to remain the same, Conservatives hate progress. There is so much more to this.

Thoughts to be, later...

Meanwhile, at least we can come to some common understanding, as a whole, that the media, movies and various ads depiction of women as sex symbols isn’t commonly praised as glamorous too broadly; I do believe that some are undermining its effect on, both, men and women.
Later to mention the weakness of society to further any progress in deterring sexual harassment and various abuses is indeed justified, yet, little insight is given to its faults. Sexual harassment cases often seem less lucid as we progress, yet that promotion is hard to bypass. Little can deny the power from above, man or woman. Many careers are made and broken in the wind of a work-week, floating helplessly across a pendulum through the same sleepless nights. The issue is too complex to solve overnight and detrimental if neglected.
As for myself, being a believer in capital punishment for harsh, severe crimes, believe that the current legislation does just what it’s asked to do given the system in place. Grievances on all levels must follow through with the legal process, as society would indicate given the social contract. If that’s society’s feeble attempt at deterring injustice towards women, then we shouldn’t at all be surprised that Saudi Arabia is one of our dearest allies.
Somehow I manage to reason through that young girls situation, for didn’t she break the law in the first place? Maybe the U.N. could go in and instead of inspecting for fictitious bombs and rare metals, like in other regions, maybe hand them a United States Constitution courtesy the American tax-payer. Better yet, maybe Hillary and George could get together and issue another bond or loan for the future generations to pay off; it may even ease the transition of power from Republican to Democrat. Just thank the charge-it generation.
Often I ponder, whether or not, anyone knows, really, which countries we should be bombing; by no means am I promoting an exchange of Iran for Saudi Arabia, but then again let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Gross atrocities, like these, are becoming more main-stream; for better or worse must be further investigated. Surely American politicians are correct about the foreign affair; sovereign nations must be left to govern themselves.
Strangely enough, close friends have seen more of the world in the name of freedom in a world becoming less free. There must be some correlation between dollars and freedom, maybe a monetary correlation between equality and class. As sovereign as they may be, who provides for their national defense again? We won’t go there though, that would just lead us into a crude situation that has already been proven to be political disaster on all fronts.
Back to sexual politics, which seems to have been a reaction to increasing male rage and frustration over economic anxieties, job downsizing, stagnant wages, and career impasse or decline stemming from the feminine mystique. It can hardly be argued that the initial intensity of the women’s movement has subsided, but in my opinion it has been, either, pacified or numbed. The same causes that gave birth to the first women’s movement may very well give rise to another, society is ever-changing yet women haven’t gained economic autonomy on the bottom or top. Classes are once again ignored, an in dept case by case analysis holds more answers than not.

The “Maybe He Doesn’t Want to Ruin the Friendship” Excuse
Somehow I can’t help but feel like we’re back in high school, maybe junior college. Guy’s don’t mind messing up a friendship for sex? This guy is a genius, something like a prophet to the female gender, quite frankly, a moron. After all that flirting and he doesn’t want to sleep with her, what a travesty! More likely than not, he wanted to sleep with her and was seeing if she would take the bait. The no phone call was simply because he didn’t have enough confidence to pull it off. A more reasonable explanation would be that he didn’t feel that she would have given up the friendship for sex. Maybe you’re right, he wasn’t that into her. They were such good friends that he chose to have a dinner with her because he was in town on behalf of his job? Yeah, that’s just what I would be thinking to if I were a girl, my friend shows up out of the blue from out of town and contacts me because the whole thing had relationship implications. Blasphemy, he wanted a one night stand while he was in town, he didn’t call because he went back home, and, to be quite honest, you weren’t that good of friends. If you were that good of friends then you would realize that after you had sex with him, things would become awkward, then, I would dismiss you if you weren’t that good. Oh my God, what a typical guy, a female would never stop talking to a guy friend if he wasn’t that good. Confidence and detaching oneself from emotions is the key to understanding anything similar to this one. I could honestly care less if we were friends or not when it comes to sex, but don’t think for a second that I would fictitiously flirt with an attractive female that I didn’t want to sleep with. I think I get it now; he was practicing the art of dishing out compliments in order to further pacify his girlfriend back home, what a moron.
